The Bulgarian FSC Working Group hosted a round table meeting on the need to introduce FSC forest certification and strengthen the FSC system in Bulgaria. The event was attended by the representatives of 16 organizations, including state authorities, associations of non-state forest owners, wood consumers' organizations, environmental NGOs, social and labor confederations, professional associations, media, etc.

Attendees were given information material on FSC and a presentation on FSC certification in Bulgaria and worldwide. Following lively discussions, participants agreed to a series of proposals to state forest authorities. They also issued statements on the need for FSC certification in Bulgaria and the challenges and needs of forest managers and forest businesses.
