Highlights from FSC Friday in India

WWF-India celebrated the first International FSC Friday as part of Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN) initiatives to promote credible forest certification in the country.

The event, which took place at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, brought together leading industrial houses dealing in wood, pulp, paper and handicrafts along with representatives from the publishing industry and public organizations. 
 
Distinguished speakers addressed the audience during the event. Mr. Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO of WWF India welcomed the guests followed by Mr. Sudhir Pande, former Director General of Forests at the Indian Ministry of Environment & Forests and Mr. S N Venkataraman, General Manager of ITC Limited. Dr T R Manoharan, Head of GFTN-India, gave a presentation on FSC initiatives in India.  

On this occasion, WWF-India launched the first ever FSC certified poster in India to highlight the urgent need to protect our forests and the ecosystem. The poster was printed by the FSC Chain of Custody Certificate holder Gopsons Printers. Mr. Pande released the poster and inaugurated an exhibition by FSC certified companies and GTFN participants.
