The Policy and Standards Unit (PSU) develops FSC policies and standards, and provides guidance and interpretation where necessary. There are five types of core documents produced by the Policy and Standards Unit. For more information on the development and approval process of each document, click on the link.

FSC Advice Note

A formal note providing advice about the correct implementation of a specific aspect of a standard or FSC policy. An advice note is generally shorter than a guidance document, and responds to a specific question.

Example: Interpretation of Criterion 9.2 (FSC-ADV-30-901)

Advice notes may be prepared by the Policy and Standards Unit in response to enquiries from FSC members, certification bodies and/or FSC National Initiatives.
