PriceWaterhouseCooper report: FSC certification the preferred choice of the industry's top 100 - October 5th, 2007
PriceWaterhouseCooper's 2007 report on the Global Forest, Paper and Packaging Industry confirms Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification as the preferred choice of the industry's top 100 companies.
The study finds almost half (49%) of the industry's top 100 companies have achieved certification of one or more operations to FSC standards. Close to one third (31%) are certified to PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) requirements. PEFC is followed by Sustainable Forestry Initiative(SFI) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) with 30% and 16% respectively. The report notes that SFI and CSA were recognized by PEFC in 2005, but lists the three certification schemes separately.
The surveyed companies have a combined sales revenue of approximately 350 Mrd. US-$.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Global Forest, Paper and Packaging Industry Survey – 2007 Edition is a global industry survey. Its aim is to provide insight into the major issues, events and companies shaping the sector. The survey has been published yearly for 10 years.
