Increasing Southern participation for the 2005 FSC General Assembly - December 3rd, 2004
A regional workshop to engage stronger participation by FSC members in the South, Reviewing Latin America's Forestry Certification Experience: Proposing motions for 2005 FSC General Assembly, will be held from the 24th-26th February 2005 in Quito, Ecuador.
This event is part of the activities in the South-South Process planned for Latin America, Africa and Asia, approved by the FSC Board of Directos. This initiativ is aimed to get more active participation from southern countries in the presentation of motions for the 2005 FSC Assembly.
Participation in this workshop is open to anybody interested in improving forest management. Participants should prepare and present a short paper containing an analysis of what are the issues for forest certification in the region, and what changes are required in terms of FSC procedures, mechanisms, standards, statutes, etc.
Papers should be sent to Chris Van Dam cvandam@elsitio.net, with a copy to mociones2005@yahoo.com.ar and Paulina Baca pbaca@fnatura.org.ec. Deadline: Dec 20th.
A committee will select 24 papers that also will be included in a book to be published at the end of the process. The project is supported by WWF International, GTZ, International Conservation and FSC Global Fund.
