Consolidating FSC’s market presence in Latin America
II Certified Brazil and I Latin America Trade Fair of FSC Products - June 30th, 2005

Consolidating the maturing presence of FSC in Latin America region, the II Certified Brazil and I Latin American Trade Fair of FSC Products will be held in Sao Paulo from 18 April to 20 April 2006.

Latin America has experienced an accelerated growth in the number of FSC certified forest management and COC operations resulting from an increasing awareness of the negative impact of deforestation and the possible market benefits from achieving forest certification. Home to more than 180 FSC certified forest operations covering a total certified area of more than 6 million hectares, the region currently holds the largest area of certified tropical forests in the world.

“Attracting more than 1,000 visitors daily, the inaugural success for Certified Brazil Trade Fair and first Latin American trade fair for FSC certified products earlier this year was one of the many signals of the commitment of a competitive forestry sector in Latin America towards the adoption of responsible forestry,” said Ana Yang, Executive Director of Brazil. “The event this year will serve as another effective platform to congregate a wide variety of products originating from these responsible forest operations.”

The II Certified Brazil and I Latin America Trade Fair of FSC Products is organised by FSC Brazil in partnership with Imaflora - Institute for Forest and Agriculture Management and Certification, and Imazon - Institute for Man and Environment of the Amazon Region.
