3rd Annual Meeting of the FSC Network of European Smallholders

The FSC network of European Smallholders is a group of small forest owners and people who work with smallholders who come together to share information and experiences regarding how smallholders are achieving responsible forest management in all parts of Europe.  The Network meets annually to discuss important topics, new projects, and issues regarding FSC certification for small producers.

This year the event was held in Pontevedra- a beautiful town in Galicia on Spain’s Atlantic Coast. The hosts of the event, Dr. Juan Picos and the University of Vigo’s Forestry Engineering School of Pontevedra, organized a 3-day meeting including a public day full of presentations, a network day for internal discussion and directions, and a field trip day- where Dr. Picos showed the network members some examples of smallholder community forestry in southern Galicia.
