Benefits for FSC members

Empowerment through decision-making

FSC is a participatory association. The membership is the highest authority of FSC and the ultimate decision-taker. FSC membership gives you a voice in an equitably-balanced forum.

As an FSC member, you have the right to attend and vote at the FSC General Assembly as well as to formulate and submit motions. It is in this dynamic environment where valuable concerns and constructive criticism are brought into a forum; different stakeholders work together in an equitable way to make important strategic decisions that define the further of the organization.

FSC members also vote and run for the position of Director of the FSC Board of Directors.

Empowerment through participation

Stakeholder consultation lies at the heart of the organization. Participation and decision-making are the highest privileges of FSC members.

FSC members are consulted in the process of standard-setting. Selected members can participate in Technical Working Groups (e.g. for Plantations Review, Dispute Resolution etc.)

Get informed

As a member, you will be the first to know. FSC maintains special email fora and a dedicated intranet to keep you updated. Members may circulate this information to staff in their organization.

Networking

FSC brings together a wide range of corporations, organizations and institutions.

Through FSC, members build and strengthen their connections and network amongst a diverse group of people all within the realm of forest related interests. FSC events as the General Assembly, market fora, chamber meetings and the FSC online newsgroup help you to get in contact with stakeholder groups and to build up your network. Some of these events are exclusively for FSC members, and discounts may be offered.

Showing your commitment

To be an FSC member, you are demonstrating a long-term commitment to the improvement of the world's forests. Companies with a legitimate commitment to corporate social responsibility become members of FSC because it is the best system for improving global forestry practices.

There are many benefits to being an FSC member. However, it does not allow you to use the FSC trademark for promotion.
