FSC welcomes two new staff members
FSC is pleased to welcome two new staff members to its international team. Mr. Thomas Colonna has joined FSC as a Communications Officer since 16 September 2009 and Ms. Britta Garfield will be the Office Coordinator starting from 1 November 2009.
As a Communications Officer, Thomas Colonna will develop and distribute news and announcements, maintain FSC communications tools, produce communications materials and support media relations. Prior to joining FSC, Mr. Colonna was a Junior Manager at Huawei Technologies in Shenzhen, China, where he coordinated international media relations and wrote the company’s first CSR report.
Mr. Colonna also supported the communications activities of the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All and worked in the Business Relations Unit of ICLEI-Local Government for Sustainability. He holds an M.A. in English, French and Spanish from the University of Freiburg, Germany and an M.Sc. in International Public Policy from University College London. He is fluent in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German and speaks basic Chinese.
Britta Garfield will coordinate the efficient and smooth day-to-day running of the FSC office systems, services and premises in Bonn. She will also assist the Human Resources with personnel recruitment and provide support with translations among other responsibilities. Previously, Ms. Garfield worked as an Intern in the Membership Office of FSC-IC updating the members’ database and intranet and supporting Board Elections and the Membership Forum.
Ms. Garfield is fluent in German, English, French and Chinese, and worked for InWEnt’s Programme on “Sustainable Management of Modern Cities” for Chinese mayors prior to joining FSC in July 2009. She received her Master’s degree in Chinese, French, and Political Science from the University of Bonn and a certificate for Political Science from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Grenoble, France. During her studies in China, she joined a Beijing-based American company that promotes cultural and educational exchanges between the US and China.
