Vote on final draft of revised FSC P&C extended to February 2011
Upon request by the P&C Review Working Group and recommendation by the FSC Policy and Standards Committee, the FSC Board of Directors has decided that the vote on the final draft of the P&C be postponed to the 1st of February 2011.
In September 2008, FSC embarked upon a complete review and revision of its main international standard, the FSC Principles and Criteria (P&C). The end of the year 2010 was established as the goal date for completing the process through a membership vote on the final draft of the revised P&C.
The second public draft of the revised P&C was published for comments from March 11th to May 10th 2010. FSC received an overwhelming quantity of comments on this draft, which were discussed by the P&C Review Working Group at its recent meeting in June. Many comments stated that the second draft represented an improvement over the first draft, but there were also a number of comments still raising questions and concerns regarding the proposed changes.
Upon request by the P&C Review WG and recommendation by the FSC Policy and Standards Committee, the FSC Board of Directors decided that further communication and discussion efforts would be needed to address the expressed questions and concerns.
To implement these additional efforts, which will include a variety of tools and activities and require additional time, it was also agreed that the vote on the final draft of the P&C be postponed to the 1st of February 2011.
Detailed information on the planned process, communication tools and activities, will soon be published on the P&C Review Section of the FSC website: http://www.fsc.org/pcreview.html
