Georges Belmond Tchoumba Georges Belmond Tchoumba Georges Belmond Tchoumba is from Cameroon. He holds a BSC Botany from the University of Yaoundé (Cameroon) and a MSc Forestry from the University of Oxford (UK). He has worked in a variety of roles in international organizations including the International Labour Organization (ILO), Friends of the Earth International (FOEI), African Development Bank (ADB), Forests Monitor, and WWF as well as regional and national organizations, like the Cameroon Centre for Environment and Development (CED). Georges is deeply involved in the field of forest conservation and environmental governance, with extensive experience spanning several decades, particularly across the Central African region. His career highlights a deep commitment to sustainable forest management, biodiversity protection, and strengthening environmental governance. He has been involved closely with FSC throughout his career, both in the field and in multi-stakeholder discussions. He has forest management audits in the Congo Basin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Morocco. He serves the Policy and Standard Committee, representing the Environment South sub-Chamber, and he is about to complete his second term.
