FSC advances forest-based climate solutions at London Climate Action Week 2025 July 2, 2025 Category : Events London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2025, held from June 21 to 29, featured over 700 events and convened policymakers, CEOs, financial institutions, and civil society leaders to accelerate decarbonization, resilience, and climate innovation. Amidst shifting global leadership in climate finance, many delegates and investors turned to London as a more inclusive and solutions-driven platform. The result: a larger, more influential LCAW that helped reinforce Europe’s position as a hub for climate capital and policy innovation. Forests at the forefront of climate action FSC’s delegation in London emphasized the critical role of forests and responsible forest management in achieving global climate goals. Forest protection and sustainable management are among the most scalable and cost-effective solutions for keeping carbon out of the atmosphere – readily implementable through current market incentives. In high-level dialogues and sectoral discussions, FSC highlighted tools like Verified Impact, which were well received by stakeholders seeking credible, measurable ESG-aligned solutions to drive local-level change. These approaches are increasingly essential for companies, investors, and governments striving to meet climate targets with integrity. Key engagements: driving dialogue and investment FSC representatives actively participated in two landmark events: Pioneering Investment Partnerships (June 23) – Held at The Nature Hub as part of the Nature4Climate coalition, this full-day forum brought together private sector leaders and policymakers to explore scalable financing models for nature-based solutions ahead of COP30. FSC shared our Risk Hub and Forest Degradation Risk Assessment tech solutions at the Data CoLab session, which will also be repeated at New York Climate Week and COP30. World Climate Investment Summit (June 26) – Hosted by the World Climate Foundation at the London Stock Exchange, this high-level gathering convened asset managers, international organizations, and governments to craft actionable investment strategies and public–private partnerships that align with net-zero and biodiversity targets. FSC’s engagement in these events helped reinforce the organization’s positioning at the intersection of nature, finance, and climate leadership. Storytelling impact: BBC StoryWorks - Transforming Cities II launch FSC was invited to attend the premiere of Transforming Cities II, a campaign series commissioned by C40 highlighting how urban communities around the world are fighting the climate crisis with creativity, resilience, and collaboration. It showcases the real people and places driving meaningful change, offering fresh perspectives on what more sustainable cities can look like. Followed by a dynamic workshop on climate storytelling, participants from across creative and environmental sectors explored how narrative tools can drive public engagement and behaviour change. Through collaborative exercises and discussions, we examined ways to translate complex climate issues into accessible and emotionally resonant stories. The evening culminated in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring leading voices in media, production, and climate advocacy. It was an inspiring exchange on the responsibility and potential of visual storytelling to shape more sustainable cities and futures. To watch FSC’s episode, click here. Looking ahead to COP30 in Belém A powerful message echoed through LCAW came from the Brazilian delegation, led by COP30 President Ambassador André Correa do Lago, who declared their ambition to host a “Solutions COP” this November in Belém. FSC is answering that call. Building on momentum from LCAW, we will continue to scale forest-based solutions that deliver real, measurable climate, biodiversity, and community impact. FSC is committed to working across sectors to ensure that forests – and the people who depend on them – are fully included in global climate solutions.
