[Bonn, Germany] - September 23, 2020 – The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is participating in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly program, which makes it easier for customers to discover and shop for more sustainable products. When searching for products, customers will now see the Climate Pledge Friendly label signifying products that have one or more of 19 different sustainability certifications that help preserve the natural world.

FSC is the only certification system focusing exclusively on forest products that Amazon has selected to feature in the program. Amazon evaluated hundreds of external sustainability certifications and chose organizations that certify products that have demonstrated sustainability benefits for the environment. FSC is proud to be one of the third-party entities certifying products within the Climate Pledge Friendly program to increase customers’ awareness of the meaning behind the labels.

We are thrilled to partner with Amazon as a certifying entity for Climate Pledge Friendly, ultimately making it easier for customers to discover and shop for more sustainable products,

said FSC International Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Harrison. “Amazon’s high bar for choosing certifications aligns with FSC’s commitment to rigorously and transparently certify consumer products. Amazon’s new program will encourage brands to manufacture and source more sustainably, get certified, and grow their certified product selection.

The product selection for Climate Pledge Friendly includes grocery, household, fashion, beauty and personal electronics, as well as other items from a range of categories. Climate Pledge Friendly is launching in the US.

FSC offers consumers a way to protect the world’s forests, even as they use forest products,

said Chris McLaren, Chief Marketing Officer of FSC US. “Amazon’s new program creates a powerful and convenient way for consumers – and the companies supplying the products they use every day – to make a big difference.
